Blackjack - How to Play

The aim of Blackjack is to get as close to a hand value of 21 as possible, without going over.

Players only compete against the dealer in this game.

 

How to Play

Both the dealer and the player receive two cards each, which forms an initial hand.

Blackjack is achieved if the first two cards equal 21.

It is possible to increase the value of a hand by selecting to 'draw'.

Choosing to 'stand' will accept the current hand as it is and no new cards will be added.

The dealer has to draw if their initial hand equals 16 or less.

If the initial hand equals 17 or more, they must stand.

A 'push' occurs when the dealer's hand is equal to the player's - in this scenario, the player's bet is returned.

Card Values

•  2-9 - equal their face value
• 10, Jack, Queen, King - equal 10
• Ace - 1 or 11, whichever benefits the hand most

Split

When the initial hand is formed of two identical cards, it is possible to 'split' the hand to create two separate hands with individual bets.

The value of the bets for each hand must be equal to the initial bet value.

It is not possible to create blackjack from a hand that contains a split Ace.

Double Down

The original bet can be doubled by opting to 'double down'.

Doubling down will add an additional card, which can be dealt face up or face down.

Insurance 

In the event of the dealer's first card being an Ace, insurance can be bought to offset the risk of them having blackjack.

Insurance costs half of the initial bet and is lost if the dealer does not have blackjack.

If the dealer does have blackjack, the original wager is lost.

Payouts

• Winning hand - 1:1
• Blackjack - 3:2
• Insurance - 2:1
• Tie - push

Return to Player

Return To Player (RTP): 99.60% 

The expected return is the amount we pay out to players relative to the amount of wagering on the game.

For example, if we take $100 of wagers we will, on average, pay out $99.60.
